Purpose
Military personnel exposed to combat are at risk for experiencing post-traumatic distress that can progress over time following deployment. We hypothesized that progression of post-traumatic distress may be related to enhanced susceptibility to post-deployment stressors. This study aimed at examining the concept of stress sensitization prospectively in a sample of Dutch military personnel deployed in support of the conflicts in Afghanistan.
Method

AIMS:
The aims of this study were to conduct a meta-analysis and meta-regression to estimate the prevalence rates for obsessive compulsive symptoms (OCS) and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) in schizophrenia, and to investigate what influences these prevalence rates.
METHOD:
Studies were identified via an online OVID database search, including PsychInfo, Embase and Medline until December 2009.

It is unclear how many children and adolescents develop post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after trauma.
AIMS:
To determine the incidence of PTSD in trauma-exposed children and adolescents as assessed with well-established diagnostic interviews and to examine potential moderators of the estimate.
METHOD:

Na een grootschalige calamiteit of crisis is registratie van getroffenen onmisbaar om te kunnen kijken hoe het met getroffenen gaat en of hulp nodig is. Evaluaties laten echter steevast zien dat die registratie een probleem is. Actuele initiatieven om de registratiesystematiek te verbeteren zijn te prijzen. Toch vraagt een integrale, goed gecoördineerde psychosociale hulp meer. In deze bijdrage lichten we toe waarom.

Medewerkers van politie, brandweer, ambulance en Defensie maken tijdens hun werk soms heftige gebeurtenissen mee. Dit komen ze over het algemeen goed te boven, mede door de ondersteuning vanuit collega’s en de organisatie. Om die ondersteuning optimaal vorm te geven, is in opdracht van het ministerie van Veiligheid en Justitie de ‘Richtlijn psychosociale ondersteuning geüniformeerden’ ontwikkeld. Onlangs heeft Impact op verzoek de implementatie van deze richtlijn onderzocht.

Uit epidemiologisch onderzoek blijkt dat 6-8% van de kinderen en jongeren hallucinaties heeft. Zij zijn niet psychotisch, maar hebben wel vaak andere psychische stoornissen. Er is vrijwel niets bekend over de behandeling van deze hallucinaties. Beschreven wordt de behandeling van twee jongeren met hallucinaties. De belangrijkste behandelprincipes waren: bespreken van de betekenis van de hallucinaties, het niet meer vermijden, maar oproepen van de hallucinaties en het aanleren van copinggedrag. In beide gevallen speelden er meer problemen. Deze werden ook behandeld.

Cognitive theory, postulates that dysfunctional cognitions play a maintaining or even aetiological role in obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). In this study it was hypothesised that if distorted cognitions play a central role in OCD, there should be a relation between cognitive measures and the severity of the obsessive-compulsive symptoms in a childhood OCD sample. A group of 39 children and adolescents with a primary diagnosis OCD was measured on the CY-BOCS, and on the cognitive questionnaires the MTQ, and the CATS.
