Als in gezinnen waar huiselijk geweld speelt traumabehandeling wordt geboden, krijgen ouders en kinderen die vaak apart van elkaar. Wat zou het effect zijn als we daar systeemtherapie of gehechtheidsbehandeling aan toevoegen?  Teams in Amsterdam en Leiden onderzoeken die vraag.

The international terrorism threat urges societies to invest in the planning and organization of psychosocial care. With the aim to contribute to cross-national learning, this study describes the content, target populations and providers of psychosocial care to civilians after terrorist attacks in Norway, France and Belgium.

Among stress-related disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) takes a central position. Although the percentage of older adults suffering from this condition appears to be lower than among younger adults, PTSD among them often presents a serious condition with high comorbidity rates. In this contribution, recent insights into post-traumatic stress disorder among older people as well as psychotherapeutic treatments are discussed. In particular, the results of recently completed investigations are discussed.

In recent years the concept of moral injury has become a common term to describe the lasting impact of moral transgressions on frontline workers. This article aims to broaden the largely clinical debate by involving the views of a diverse group of mental health practitioners who support military and police personnel in the Netherlands. These practitioners are chaplains, confidential counsellors, social workers, psychologists and integrity officers. How do these practitioners describe the moral injuries of servicemen and police officers and how do they think these should be approached?

Achtergrond De zorg voor mensen met trauma- en stressorgerelateerde stoornissen is multidisciplinair georganiseerd. De plaats van geestelijke verzorging in multidisciplinaire psychotraumazorg is onderbelicht.

Doel Verkennen van de plaats van geestelijke verzorging bij psychotrauma, moreel trauma, rouw, palliatieve en multiculturele zorg, in de tijd ten opzichte van blootstelling aan potentieel traumatische gebeurtenissen en tussen andere disciplines als basis voor een multidisciplinair samenwerkingsmodel.

Jeroen Knipscheer werkt als behandelaar en onderzoeker bij ARQ | Centrum’45, een landelijke ggz-organisatie voor behandeling van psychotrauma. Hij behandelt daar voornamelijk patiënten met een migratieachtergrond. Daarnaast werkt hij parttime aan de Universiteit Utrecht bij Klinische Psychologie. Zijn expertise ligt op het terrein van culturele sensitiviteit bij CGT.

The concept of moral injury, referring to the psychological impact of having one’s moral expectations and beliefs violated, is gaining a firm place in research on military trauma. Yet, although moral injury has the recognized potential to extend the understanding of trauma beyond the individualizing and pathologizing focus of the clinical realm, most studies nevertheless focus on clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatment.
