Zeker als ouders of kinderen problemen hebben, kunnen ouders steun uit hun omgeving gebruiken bij de opvoeding van hun kinderen. Als jij als professional ouders bijstaat in het opvoeden van hun kind, is een respectvolle, positieve en belangstellende benadering van hun ouderschap heel belangrijk.

De meldcode helpt jou als professional zorgvuldig te handelen bij een vermoeden van kindermishandeling of huiselijk geweld. In vijf stappen wordt aangegeven wat je moet doen als je vermoedt dat een kind thuis in de knel zit.

Ook in Nederland zijn er kinderen die thuis geslagen, verwaarloosd of seksueel misbruikt worden. Kinderen kunnen daar ernstige schade van ondervinden. Soms tot ver in hun volwassen leven. Elk jaar worden in Nederland naar schatting 90.000 tot 127.000 kinderen mishandeld.

Huiselijk geweld komt veel voor. In 2020 waren – volgens het CBS - ongeveer 1,2 miljoen personen van 16 jaar en ouder slachtoffer van een vorm van huiselijk geweld. Bij huiselijk geweld is de pleger iemand uit de huiselijke kring van het slachtoffer. Kindermishandeling is een vorm van huiselijk geweld, maar ook partnergeweld of ouderenmishandeling vallen er bijvoorbeeld onder.

The psychological consequences of trauma related to the Holocaust have been primarily studied in samples derived from Israel, North America, and Western Europe. Few studies have examined postcommunist countries in Central and Eastern Europe. The present study focused on three generations living in the Czech Republic and Slovakia after World War II (WWII): Holocaust survivors (71–95 years of age), their children (30–73 years of age), and their grandchildren (15–48 years of age).

Previous research on barriers and facilitators regarding treatment-seeking of adults with depressive and anxiety disorders has been primarily conducted in the Anglosphere. This study aims to gain insight into treatment-seeking behaviour of adults with depressive and anxiety disorders in a European healthcare system.

Methods

Health care workers worldwide are at an increased risk of a range of adverse mental health outcomes, including posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), following the unprecedented demand placed upon them during the COVID-19 pandemic. Psychosocial interventions offered to mitigate these risks should be based on the best available evidence; however, limited information regarding the comparative effectiveness of interventions is available. We undertook a systematic review of psychosocial interventions delivered to health care workers before, during, and after disasters.

The literature demonstrates evidence that secondary traumatic stress (STS) and vicarious traumatic stress (VTS) may adversely affect the well-being of refugee relief workers and, thus, the quality of their services.

Stressful experiences in armed conflict incur intergenerational effects through parental behaviors with their children. A recent study reported that among Syrian refugee families, mothers’ (but not fathers’) post-traumatic stress (PTS) impacted children’s emotional processing. In this study, we aim to shed further light on this phenomenon by analyzing how the parenting practices in the context of post-traumatic stress confers protection or risk for children’s emotional processing.
