My grief app for prolonged grief in bereaved parents : a randomised waitlist-controlled trial

A minority of bereaved adults experiences prolonged grief disorder, depression, and/or posttraumatic stress disorder, with heightened risks observed among bereaved parents. Cognitive-behavioural therapies, both face-to-face and online, have demonstrated efficacy in treating post-loss mental health problems. Mobile phone applications potentially offer an efficient and cost-effective way to deliver self-help to bereaved adults, yet controlled effectiveness studies are lacking.

Resilience and vulnerability of Ukrainians : The role of family during the war

The full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine led to numerous physical and moral challenges. The paper aims to estimate the role of family as a social resilience driver in managing wartime challenges on a regional level. It used the online survey method based on Google Forms and online focus-group interviews in September-November 2022. Household members (1,089 respondents) of Kyiv, Lviv, Zakarpattia, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, and Dnipropetrovsk territorial communities were surveyed.

Conflict exposure and expected victimization in Nigeria

Although the Northern Nigerian state of Kaduna has the second highest incidence of violent conflicts among Nigeria’s 36 states, the population generally reports a low level of expected victimization. A large-N survey conducted in the state in 2021 showed that 65% of the population believe they are unlikely to be directly affected by violent conflict in the future.

 

Longitudinal relationship between posttraumatic cognitions and internalising symptoms in children and adolescents

Background: Little is known about the naturalistic course of posttraumatic cognitions (PTCs) after exposure to a potentially traumatic event (PTE) in children and adolescents. Moreover, previous studies on the longitudinal associations of PTCs with internalising symptoms yielded mixed results.

 

Objective: To explore the naturalistic courses and longitudinal associations of dysfunctional PTCs and functional PTCs with posttraumatic stress symptoms (PTSS), depression, and anxiety.
