Intergenerational Trauma in Phenomenological Research : A Systematic Review

This systematic review aimed to synthesize phenomenological qualitative research regarding the lived experience of intergenerational trauma. Twenty-two studies were included in the review and were analyzed using thematic synthesis. Five analytical themes were identified: ‘the adaptive or maladaptive indelible scar of intergenerational trauma’; ‘between integration and fragmentation, and closeness and disconnection’; ‘the interaction of silence and communication’; ‘trying to survive and overcome’; and ‘attitudes toward therapeutic support’.

Impact of intergenerational trauma on second-generation descendants : a systematic review

Collective traumas, such as war, genocide, natural disasters, and systemic oppression, have profound and lasting effects, not only on survivors but also on their descendants. Understanding how these traumas are transmitted across generations is essential to inform effective interventions and policy responses. This systematic review aimed to synthesize quantitative evidence on the physiological and psychological outcomes observed in secondgeneration descendants of individuals exposed to collective trauma.

Volumetric Differences of Thalamic Nuclei are Associated with Post-Trauma Psychopathology

Previous investigations of whole thalamus and thalamic nuclei volumes in post-trauma psychopathology have been sparse, limited in scope, and yielded inconsistent results. To address this, volumetric estimates of whole thalamus and thalamic nuclei were obtained from structural brain MRI scans from 2,058 participants across 20 worldwide sites in the ENIGMA PTSD working group.

Do young people get the mental healthcare they need? : Trajectories of depressive symptoms, correlates and care pathways in a clinical sample of young people reaching the upper age limit of their CAMHS.

Identifying young service users whose depressive symptoms persist into adulthood is crucial to avert potential difficulties they may face when transitioning from Child and Adolescent Mental Healthcare Services (CAMHS) to Adult Mental Healthcare Services (AMHS). As depressive symptoms are diverse in severity and stability, it is important to objectively identify those who require continued support.

Image-Based Meta- and Mega-Analysis (IBMMA) : A Unified Framework for Large-Scale, Multi-Site, Neuroimaging Data Analysis.

The increasing scale and complexity of neuroimaging datasets aggregated from multiple study sites present substantial analytic challenges, as existing statistical analysis tools struggle to handle missing voxel-data, suffer from limited computational speed and inefficient memory allocation, and are restricted in the types of statistical designs they are able to model.

Monitoring suicidal ideation trends and risk factors among Dutch youth during and following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Objectives

We examined trends and risk factors for self-reported suicidal ideation among Dutch youth (12–25 years) during and following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Study design

A repeated cross-sectional survey study.

Methods

A web-based psychoeducational programme for trauma-related symptoms in Indonesian undergraduate students : a pilot randomized controlled trial.

Potentially traumatic events (PTEs) are prevalent among Indonesian students. Web-based psychoeducation might increase mental health literacy and reduce barriers to healthcare access. We developed Pulihkan Luka (PL), a web-based psychoeducation programme for Indonesian undergraduate students. This pilot randomized controlled trial assessed the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary efficacy of PL. Students (N = 130) were randomly assigned to (1) four to seven sessions of PL + Enhanced Usual Care (PL+EUC; n = 64) or (2) EUC only (n = 66).

Psychometric properties of the Italian Traumatic Grief Inventory-Self Report Plus (TGI-SR+).

The Traumatic Grief Inventory–Self Report Plus (TGI-SR+) is a widely used and reliable tool assessing Prolonged Grief Disorder (PGD) symptoms. This study examined the factorial structure and psychometric properties of the Italian TGI-SR+. A community sample of 308 participants aged 18–65 (M = 37.9, SD = 14.5) with 78.2% women completed the TGI-SR+ and measures of psychological distress, post-traumatic symptoms, and quality of life. Confirmatory factor analysis supported a unidimensional model. Reliability was excellent.

Feasibility, Acceptability and Clinical Utility of the Bereavement and Grief Cultural Formulation Interview for Prolonged Grief Disorder

Prolonged grief disorder (PGD) is a new diagnostic category included in global diagnostic classification systems for mental disorders. However, PGD can only be diagnosed if the severity and duration exceed socio-cultural norms. Here, we present a new supplementary module to the DSM-5 Cultural Formulation Interview: the Bereavement and Grief Cultural Formulation Interview (BG-CFI). The BG-CFI was developed to help clinicians provide a culturally informed diagnosis and guide treatment planning.

Adaptive and Maladaptive Regulation of Positive and Negative Affect : Specific Associations With Anxiety, Depression, and Posttraumatic Stress

Emotion regulation (ER) has been found to contribute to psychological symptoms. Previous studies have mostly examined various aspects of ER in isolation. Comprehensive knowledge regarding the relative influence of distinct aspects of ER is lacking. Also, it is not clear whether distinct aspects of ER are associated with specific psychological symptoms.
