Telepsychiatry versus face-to-face treatment : systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials

Background
The COVID-19 pandemic has transformed healthcare significantly and telepsychiatry is now the primary means of treatment in some countries.

Aims

To compare the efficacy of telepsychiatry and face-to-face treatment.

Method

What are the predictive variables that increase the risk of developing a complex trauma? : A meta-analysis

In 2018, Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD) was officially recognized as a distinct syndrome in the International Classification of Diseases, 11th Revision (ICD-11). This recognition aimed to differentiate between neurotic disorders secondary to stressful situations and somatoform disorders, and disorders specifically associated with stress. The inclusion of CPTSD in the ICD-11 marked the culmination of two decades of research focused on understanding its symptoms, treatments, and risk factors.

3MDR treatment in an adolescent with PTSD : a case report

Background: As Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in adolescents significantly impacts their well-being, effective treatment is of great importance. Little is known, however, about the novel, multi-modal virtual reality supported, exposure-based psychotherapeutic interventions such as 3MDR in this population.

Objective: To describe the 3MDR treatment of an adolescent with PTSD who did not respond to previous exposure-based PTSD interventions.

Efficacy of psychological interventions for post-traumatic stress disorder in children and adolescents exposed to single versus multiple traumas : meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials

Background
Previous meta-analyses of psychotherapies for children and adolescents with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) did not investigate whether treatment efficacy is diminished when patients report multiple (versus single) traumas.

Aims
To examine whether efficacy of psychological interventions for paediatric PTSD is diminished when patients report multiple (versus single) traumas.

Intrusive Traumatic Re-Experiencing Domain : Functional Connectivity Feature Classification by the ENIGMA PTSD Consortium

Background
Intrusive traumatic re-experiencing domain (ITRED) was recently introduced as a novel perspective on posttraumatic psychopathology, proposing to focus research of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) on the unique symptoms of intrusive and involuntary re-experiencing of the trauma, namely, intrusive memories, nightmares, and flashbacks. The aim of the present study was to explore ITRED from a neural network connectivity perspective.

Common strategies in empirically supported psychological interventions for alcohol use disorders : A meta-review

Issues

Despite the large number of effective psychological interventions for alcohol use disorders (AUD), there is still a lack of clarity concerning the strategies that make these interventions effective.

Approach

Editorial : Community series in grief disorders : clinical, cultural, and epidemiological aspects, volume II

The articles included in this Research Topic provide essential insights in clinical, cultural, and epidemiological aspects of grief disorders. Clinical aspects include diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of grief disorders. Cultural aspects involve the provision of care within specific cultural contexts, while dealing with multiculturalism and globalization. Epidemiological aspects encompass both clinical and cultural aspects and include risk for the development or maintenance of disordered grief as well as factors that contribute to resilience and recovery.
