Ignorance is not all bliss : Investigating the added benefit of cannabidiol in anxiety disorder treatment

Approximately 30-50% of patients do not benefit from current treatments for anxiety disorders. The development of novel treatment strategies besides existing treatments is therefore highly needed. Cannabidiol (CBD), a cannabis constituent with an advantageous safety profile, is frequently used by patients for treating anxiety symptoms, but its effectiveness in this regard has not often been studied. We synthesized past research into CBD and anxiety to 1) provide an indication of clinical efficacy and 2) elucidate what constitutes a dose that is anxiety-reducing.

EMDR treatment in patients with personality disorders : Should we fear symptom exacerbation?

Background: Clinicians are often hesitant to use trauma-focused therapy for patients with personality disorders (PDs) because of concerns that the pathology may worsen.

Objective: Exploring trajectories of change and individual exacerbations in psychological distress and suicidal thoughts in patients with a PD without comorbid posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) during EMDR therapy or waiting time.

Craving on the move : targeting smoking memories with a novel 3MDR–smoking cessation protocol

Introduction: Improved effectiveness and treatment adherence is needed in smoking cessation (SC) therapies. Another important challenge is to disrupt maladaptive drug-related memories. To achieve these goals, we developed a novel treatment strategy on the basis of motion-assisted memory desensitization and reprocessing (3MDR).

Moral injury appraisals and PTSD symptoms in treatment-seeking refugees : a latent profile analysis

Objective: Refugees flee from countries due to war, violence, or persecution and are often exposed to potentially traumatic events (PTEs). Furthermore, they might encounter situations where they are compelled to act contrary to their moral codes or witness others acting morally wrong. Consequently, they are at risk to not only develop symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), but also moral injury (MI). To date, MI in traumatized refugees has received limited research attention.

Dissociative Subtype of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and its Correlates Among Treatment-Seeking Refugees

The dissociative subtype of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD-DS) denotes a severe type of PTSD associated with complex trauma exposure and psychiatric comorbidity. Refugees may be at heightened risk of developing PTSD-DS, but research is lacking. This cross-sectional study aimed to examine PTSD-DS and its demographic, trauma-related, and clinical correlates among a convenience sample of refugee patients over 18 years old who were diagnosed with PTSD according to DSM-5.

Predictors of study dropout in cognitive-behavioural therapy with a trauma focus for post-traumatic stress disorder in adults : An individual participant data meta-analysis

Background Available empirical evidence on participant-level factors associated with dropout from psychotherapies for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is both limited and inconclusive. More comprehensive understanding of the various factors that contribute to study dropout from cognitive-behavioural therapy with a trauma focus (CBT-TF) is crucial for enhancing treatment outcomes.

Trauma web-based psychoeducational programme : systematic cultural adaptation and protocol for a feasibility-acceptability study

Background: Trauma exposure in Indonesia is high despite the fact that there is limited accessibility to mental healthcare. Pulihkan Luka (PL) is a web-based trauma psychoeducation intervention that aims to provide a practical solution to overcome barriers to accessing mental healthcare.

Objectives: This article aimed to (1) describe the cultural adaptation process of PL for Indonesian students and (2) describe the design of the pilot randomised controlled trial (RCT) that examines the feasibility and acceptability of PL.

Factors associated with posttraumatic stress severity and treatment response in a retrospective, naturalistic sample of homicidally bereaved children and young people

Background: Research on the mental health of homicidally bereaved children and young people is scarce. Despite the importance of timely referral of those at risk of developing severe mental health problems, few convincing risk factors have been identified. The effectiveness of current treatment models is unclear.

Theoretical-practical Guidelines for Mental Health Professionals on Complicated Grief : a Systematic Review Based on Narrative Therapy

This article aims to present theoretical-practical guidelines for mental health professionals based on a systematic review of the literature, guided by PRISMA (Method Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses, Page et al. [1], which explored the contributions of narrative therapy and constructivist-narrative strategies in the integration of complicated grief into normal grief. The literature needs to demonstrate more effectiveness in primary interventions, showing better results in secondary and tertiary interventions [2,3].

Efficacy of an internet-based guided trauma-focused intervention in reducing ICD-11 posttraumatic stress disorder symptoms : study protocol of a randomized controlled trial

Background
Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a common mental disorder. However, many cases of PTSD remain untreated because of limited healthcare resources and other treatment-seeking barriers. Effective internet-based interventions could help to improve access to PTSD treatments. Therefore, the main objective of the planned randomized controlled trial is to evaluate the efficacy of the Lithuanian version of the guided internet-based self-help programme (Spring) in reducing ICD-11 PTSD symptoms.
